Program revisions
In order to enhance the quality of the DPRS, the program is currently being revised. The revision process takes into account the following:
- feedback from past DPRS participants;
- the results of an ITL-initiated review of the DPRS (as part of a broad review of all ITL programs); and
- extensive consultations about the DPRS with key stake holders across the University, including the Associate Deans Research Training.
The following revisions have already been made:
- Reduce content/time required to complete
Instead of instead of doing all seven modules to complete the program, you now only need to do five modules: Module 1, three modules of your choice from Modules 2-5, and Module 7. - Revise Final Assessment
Whereas Module 7 used to require a written descriptive account and case study, it now requires only your active participation in a face-to-face Supervision Forum.
In the future, faculties (and faculty-clusters) will be organising their own supervision forums, but for those faculties that have not yet done so, the ITL offers supervision forums (to register for an ITL-run forum in 2009, click here).
- Consolidate tasks and increase faculty relevance
Modules 1-6 are currently being revised with these aims in mind.
- Consider flexible delivery modes
Suggestions have been made to offer face-to-face workshops in conjunction with each online module (e.g. a Module 3 workshop) and on additional campuses. We hope to be able to offer these options in the future, once the modules have been revised.

Questions about the program’s academic content should be directed to Dr Cynthia Nelson, ITL. Questions about administrative aspects should be directed to Ms Susan Robinson, ITL.
