To complete the program
To complete the program you need to complete 5 of the 7 modules, including:
- Module 1(online);
- 3 modules of your choice from Modules 2-6 (online); and
- Module 7 (which involves participating in a face-to-face Supervision Forum).
Each module should take approximately 2 hours to complete.
When you have completed the 5 required modules, you will be awarded a Certificate of Program Completion. This Certificate enables you to be appointed as a University of Sydney supervisor, provided that you have fulfilled all other university requirements for registration. Tips for program participants
In working through the online modules, some participants have found it useful to do the following:
- Schedule time in your diary to work through the modules
- While working on the modules, indicate your unavailability to students and colleagues by putting a note on your door and not answering your phone
- Plan to read one or two articles in each module.
Another very helpful strategy has been to establish a peer support group. This involves informal, regular, face-to-face meetings with fellow participants in the program. You might identify a few colleagues through a research group, a departmental coordinator or mentor, or through the discussion forum located in this program.
Some participants have found it useful to keep a research supervision journal, in which they include descriptions of events, thoughts, opinions, reflections, insights and so on.
