Purpose & Function
ITL Engaged Enquiry Scholars Network
Target audience: STEPs grant applicants and other interested curriculum leaders in faculties.
Purpose: To support the professional development and learning of potential leaders for Engaged Enquiry curriculum renewal.
Relation to White Paper Strategic Priority: Strategy three – initiate a university wide program of curriculum renewal:
(3f) Identify and empower scholars with expertise in curriculum development to champion curriculum renewal and best practice across the university
(3g) recognize and reward staff contribution to curriculum renewal an innovation
Strategy: Building on the STEPs grant strategy and connecting with the Curriculum Renewal work of the SEG CCPC and the SEG Ed SSLE working party, ITL will establish and support the development of a network of Engaged Enquiry Scholars across the university.
Network activities include a series of monthly lunch time professional development meetings to support the work of members and build a ‘presence’ for those who might influence curriculum renewal in their faculties. These meetings will include lunch and could feature:
- Guest speakers (e.g. ACEN talks; talks from ITL and Ed Portfolio staff on relevant topics RELT, CELT, SSLE, curriculum renewal; talks from other experts etc).
- Support the collaborative formative evaluation process for STEPs using consistent university wide framework & tools.
- Provide peer support and collaborative problem solving and sharing of practice opportunities to participants.
- Support planning for public teaching excellence events.
Building participation:
- Participation by members of STEPs grant project teams. The network will enable learning about what is being funded in other faculties – and co-ordinate support for the implementation of the university-wide evaluation strategy / tools.
- Invitations to all staff who may be considering applying for engaged enquiry grants as a way of building more successful projects in the future and as a way of supporting any projects faculties or individuals still decide to go ahead with despite lack of central funding.
- Reports on meetings and issuing open invitations to attend through Teaching@Sydney
- 5 x $1K scholarships offered to support attendance at a relevant conference for members of the network
