SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS
The University provides a range of support services for its diverse student body. For services applicable to all students please click on the below links.
Learning support for students
- The Learning Centre helps students develop a range of academic skills necessary for successful university study. Support includes workshops in study skills, academic writing and examination skills. The Centre also collaborates with faculty staff to embed academic skills into their curricula.
- The Mathematics Learning Centre assists undergraduate students to develop mathematical knowledge or skills required for their course. Assistance includes one-on-one help and small tutorial groups.
- The Koori Centre provides services and facilities to support Indigenous Australians, such as tutorial assistance, access to computers, an Indigenous Research Library, study space, an orientation program at the beginning of the year and assistance in study and learning skills. Yooroang Garang is the centre of Indigenous student support at Cumberland Campus
- The Writing Hub in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences assists undergraduate students from the Faculty with their academic writing needs and aids staff in designing effective writing and oral presentation assignments. Postgraduate students in the Faculty are also supported in their writing
- Learning and Teaching in Business helps students in the Business School to develop their academic literacy and learning with a range of facilities and courses. Support includes special units of study, workshops, peer mentoring and online resources. Staff are also supported in curriculum development.
- The University Library supports students' study and research needs with a wide range of resources and services. The library is a network of many subject-specialist libraries. Online resources are available here
- The Write Site an online resource that facilitates and supports learning skills to develop academic and professional writing.
- The WRiSE help students with report writing for Science and Engineering.

Financial support for students
- The University has a number of loan and bursary funds to assist students experiencing financial difficulty, for further information see the University's Financial Assistance Office.

Support for Indigenous students
In addition to learning, counselling and financial support for students the resources below relate to Indigenous students.
The University of Sydney supports Indigenous teaching and learning through its Indigenous units, The Koori Centre, Yooroang Garang and through individual Indigenous staff in disciplines. These units are dedicated to Indigenous student support and their staff work on the teaching of Indigenous curriculum, provide professional development for non-Indigenous staff, carry out research and foster relations with local and remote communities.
Other support beyond the University includes
- AIME, an education based mentoring program linking university students with Indigenous high school students.
- Australian Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies a research collecting and publishing institution in the field of Australian Indigenous studies.
- Indigenous Higher Education Advisory Council provides policy advice to government on higher education issues.
- NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc a principal source of advice on behalf of Aboriginal communities on issues relating to education and training.
Support for international students

- The Library offers additional services and IT facilities to staff and students registered with Disability Services.
Support for students from diverse religious backgrounds
In addition to learning, counselling and financial support for students the resources below relate to students from diverse religious backgrounds.
- The University's Multifaith Chaplaincy Centre - Located on Camperdown campus, the Centre hosts chaplains of Anglican, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Buddhist, Catholic, Coptic Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Islamic, Jewish, Presbyterian, Salvation Army and Uniting Church faiths.
