Teaching Leadership

The ITL works collaboratively with colleagues across the university as well as nationally and internationally, to support the leadership of teaching and learning.  This work includes research, scholarship and strategic educational development projects. The work supports the University’s strategic planning for teaching and learning, the work of relevant SEG Committees, Faculty leadership of teaching and learning, and contributes to the achievement of successful outcomes for a range of strategic initiatives designed to enhance teaching and learning at the University. These strategic initiatives support the enhancement of teaching and learning within the University and develop institutional expertise and capacity in relation to priorities in the University's Strategic Plan.  The priorities and initiatives are developed in consultation with the DVC Education and colleagues across the University, and through participation in the relevant SEG Committees.

Current initiatives include supporting the Teaching Quality Standards Compacts which make visible the strategic teaching enhancement work of faculties in implementing the University’s agreed quality standards for students learning experiences in units of study.

Within the University of Sydney this work often involves collaborations with colleagues in the faculties, particularly the Associate Deans Learning and Teaching as well as with colleagues in other units in central portfolios (e.g. the Learning Centre, e-Learning, the Social Inclusion Unit and the National Centre for Cultural Competence, amongst others).

These pages include links to some of the University’s current strategic initiatives, and access to resources developed by previous projects as well as resources for some of the key people involved in leadership of teaching at the University. If you would like to get involved in any of these projects please contact the Director Teaching and Learning.
