Welcome to new teaching staff
The Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) welcomes you to the University of Sydney. The ITL is the academic development unit of the University and we work with the University community to enhance and help assure the quality of teaching and student learning.
This University places a high priority on quality teaching and learning outcomes and we look forward to working with new staff at all levels of experience.
The ITL sends all academics new to the University a resource pack to support their teaching. If you have not yet received one of these, please call the ITL on 9351 3725, or email.
New academic staff are also normally required by the University to undertake the first of the ITL programs, the ‘Principles and Practice of University Teaching and Learning’ program. This program is offered several times a year and we look forward to meeting you at one of these soon. Many faculties also offer new staff orientation activities which may form part of the Principles and Practice Program. Several faculties also offer specialist orientation workshops for new Tutors and other Sessional Staff.
