The main aims of this unit of study are to further develop the following:
- your understanding of some of the key practical and theoretical issues associated with university teaching portfolios and their development
- your ability to articulate your own teaching philosophy and to communicate evidence of successful teaching, by preparing a ‘teaching-portfolio document’ (that is, a teaching promotion or award application, or a PM&D or similar document)
- your ability to critically evaluate your colleagues’ teaching-portfolio documents, and to make effective use of critical feedback from colleagues.
This unit is taught in tandem with EDPR 5011 ‘The Scholarship of University Teaching and Learning’, which seeks to extend your ability to inquire into your own teaching practice and to plan improvements based on evidence, and in so doing, to enable and support your learning in this unit.
