Places will be allocated to University staff belonging to the following categories, in order of priority:

1. Those with full-time or part-time academic appointments for whom teaching responsibilities are a significant part of their duties;
2. Those required to complete the Graduate Certificate as a condition of their appointment;
3. Those with casual academic appointments for whom teaching responsibilities are a significant part of their duties;
4. Those with non-academic appointments for whom teaching responsibilities are a significant part of their duties;
5. Those with academic and non-academic appointments for whom teaching responsibilities are a part, but not a significant part, of their duties.

All participants must be teaching classes of students for the duration of the course.

On the advice of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) and the Deans, the Institute allocates places across the University.
