Implementation

The Sydney Graduate initiative involves a multi-level approach to implementation and the work of many different groups inside and outside of the University. This is described in the Implementation Strategy.

The University’s work on the First Year includes developing Foundation Skills units of study and introductory learning experiences which support students in starting their journey towards the development of graduate attributes. Some of these introductory units of study are offered as part of degrees, some are modules of study embedded in first year and some are offered as co-curricular learning experiences.

Student learning through Engaged Enquiry in their disciplinary studies is the main explicit vehicle for developing the attributes of the Sydney Graduate. The University’s curriculum renewal strategy seeks to support staff and students in explicitly aligning teaching, learning and assessment in their courses to focus on the development of the faculty’s or discipline’s, graduate attributes.

There are some attributes of the Sydney Graduate which are not taught in semester, rather they are learnt, over time, through students purposeful engagement in the broader experience of university life. The university seeks to provide for students an academic community, a university culture and extra curricular opportunities which model and foster these attributes of a Sydney Graduate.
