The ITL works with the University community to enhance, research and help assure the quality of teaching and student learning. We run professional development programs and formal courses for university teachers. We work with colleagues across the University to support faculty-based teaching and learning development and to collaborate on strategic initiatives. We produce data and resources for the University's enterprise-level teaching and learning quality enhancement systems and we support the University's, and Faculties', strategic planning for teaching, learning and curriculum enhancement.
In keeping with the international reputation that the University of Sydney has in both teaching and research, the Institute for Teaching and Learning is a world leader in research in the field of University education, and uses research, generated at the University and internationally, in its work with members of the University community.
Our website contains information for staff and students interested in the development of university teaching and learning through courses, projects and research; for those interested in teaching quality assurance processes, for students interested in doing research leading to a PhD in Higher Education, and for researchers who wish to connect with our work, and for those with an interest in the growing field of academic development.
You can read more about our work in our annual reports. I hope you will find the website helpful and informative. If you have any questions on the role of the Institute, or its activities, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
