The UES Questionnaire

The University Experience Survey instrument is called the Student Experience Questionnaire (SEQ). The SEQ is a short instrument that is designed for administration to first- and later-year undergraduate students in around 10 minutes online and using Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI). A version of the SEQ was piloted in 2011 as part of a development process, and this is being further developed in 2012 to better measure aspects of the student experience important to informing prospective student choice and your institution’s continuous improvement.

The survey instrument contains items that measure a small number of key aspects of students’ experience at university. The survey was developed based on research into the student experience and in consultation with universities and stakeholders groups and will be redeveloped through further consultation with universities, students and stakeholder groups. The instrument will be validated through a series of focus groups, in-depth cognitive interviews and small scale pilots, before the official administration takes place in late July and August 2012.
