Welcome to the Teaching and Learning with ICT site. The purpose of this site is to provide staff with a one-stop directory of the services available to you as you rethink the design of your unit of study. While many of the resources here could be applicable for any innovation in the design of your unit, this site aims to clarify the availability of information communication technology (ICT) services for teaching and learning so that coordination across the university leads to quality improvement and an ongoing developing awareness of how to best support student learning at the University of Sydney. The site is divided into 5 sections which represent the stages that staff report going through when redeveloping their unit of study design with innovations. In each section, you'll find information guiding you about its purpose and the services available to you at that stage of the process. How to use this Site This site has been written from the perspective of a teacher wanting to develop or redevelop their unit of study in innovative ways. Since ICT (information and communication technologies) is one common way of innovating the design of units of study, it is prominent throughout this site. However, many of the resources could work for innovative designs other than ICT. To use this site you could get a taste of it through one of the two links on the home page, for first time users called “Academics New to ICT” or for experienced users called “Experienced Academics”. identify where you are in the development process. Are you Deciding - in other words making some decisions about how to redevelop your unit; Designing - up to the stage of planning how to realize your innovation; Developing - actually producing the materials; Learning - helping students to use the materials to support their learning; or Evaluating - reviewing how successfully the innovation worked? If you can identify in which of these stages you are, then you can go to that section of the site and see what support is offered.
